Encouraging words from FIRM founder and staff concerning the Covid-19 Pandemic
We have found ourselves in the most unusual of circumstances. Never before has the entire world been told to isolate to protect communities, as we do so in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. For the first time in history, everyone is supposed to avoid other humans. Simultaneously, we are able to maintain more connections than ever before – thanks to the internet.
Mankind has lived through many wars, life-threatening diseases and natural disasters.
But this time we are not fighting or rebuilding. Instead, we are asked to stop in our tracks.
No more congregating or traveling. For most of us it means no more early commutes or social outings. Stay home.
And while we adjust to this different pace of life, we can take a closer look at ourselves and where our trust lies.
This past Sunday our Founder and President, Wayne Hilsden shared a message of hope with the King of Kings Community Church online:
While I don’t believe this present pandemic is the last pestilence to strike the earth just before the return of the Lord to establish His global Kingdom, this is an unprecedented event in world history.
Experts are telling us that this pandemic is unusual and new – nobody knows where it’s going, how long it will last, and no one has a vaccine for it, yet. Covid-19 (Coronavirus) is not just a scary thing for people because of the possibility of death, but also because of what will happen to the financial structure of the world…
We need to hear the Word of God and we need to be people who are like Daniel – uncompromising in our faith, who are resolved to serve the Lord no matter what comes or who comes against us in this world.
[May we] be messengers of hope to a frightened world… “The people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.” (Daniel 11:32)
We live in a day that will go down in history. And still, this is the day that the Lord has made. This situation has not surprised Him, and His heart and His desire has not changed: He wants a connection.
How will His Body – the body of believers – respond to the Covid-19 Pandemic?
God can use our circumstances to help us do great things for Him, very creative things that would allow us to reach the world at a time when [it] really needs to hear our voice.
The Lord can use any circumstance – He can take lemons and turn them into lemonade – He says through Paul in Romans 8, that He works in all things together for good, for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
It is up to us to use this time and follow the two commandments that Jesus said were paramount – to love God and to love others. Interestingly enough, and unlike some other commandments, these two can always be followed, in any circumstances.
Staying at home, though difficult, can bring us closer to God’s throne. We can pour our questions and fears out to Jesus. And while we miss human connection in this era of isolation, we have an opportunity to build something new. We can reach out and show care through meaningful conversation and prayer.
In a live video on Facebook, Travis Sanchez, FIRM team member, shared:
“Externally this virus has separated us. But internally and spiritually, it is binding us together. Would this be a foretelling of how the body of believers will be unified in Yeshua?
[May we] dwell in the shadow of the Almighty, because [in Him] we have abundant life forever…
Would you pray with us that the body of Christ would be unified and creative in reaching out to each other through the different technologies that are available to us?
God, would you use what is potentially meant for evil – for good! What is meant to divide – to unify us! Would you make us a stronger body!”
In these extraordinary times, we echo the words of apostle Paul: “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)

Let’s call upon the name of the Lord in agreement, and He promised He would hear us (Matthew 18:19).
- Pray for the Body of Messiah to be a messenger of hope and a light in the darkness. Ask the Lord how you can be a blessing to those around you. (John 1:5)
- Pray for unity in love, just how Jesus prayed. (John 17:22-23)
- Pray for wisdom for our governments and leaders, as they deal with this new situation concerning the Covid-19 pandemic and strive to best serve us. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
