Your Continuous Support Makes a Difference
A few months ago, we reached out to you for help. The Little Hearts Preschool, located in the heart of Jerusalem, was in a tough spot. During Israel’s first lockdown in the spring, the preschool had to remain closed and could not operate as usual. The closure left the teachers jobless and the organization was suffering great monetary losses.
Little Hearts Preschool makes a difference in the lives of children by creating a loving and nurturing environment which models unity amongst the Arab, Jewish and international communities. It is the only Messianic preschool in Jerusalem, and it was in danger of having to shut down.
Your response was humbling. Already in the first week after our appeal, we received donations that helped Little Hearts finish the previous school year strong. Both the children and the teachers welcomed the summer break relieved and looked forward to the new school year with great hope.
Little Hearts Thank You!
“We almost had to shut down our preschool and were worried we would not be able to open this September due to financial loss. So many of you were able to contribute financially through FIRM! We could not be more grateful,” shared Emily Shkedi, the Little Hearts General Manager.
Little Hearts reopened this fall equipped to serve local families and nurture reconciliation in the Holy City. The preschool is built on cooperation. It welcomes children aged from 3 months to 5 years old of all backgrounds, while making sure their staff also represent various communities of the city.
New safety measures had to be implemented at the beginning of this school year, as the health situation in the country has still not been very encouraging. All things considered, Little Hearts Preschool has been making the most out of a difficult situation without losing hope.
Nevertheless, with the arrival of the High Holidays, Israel introduced new restrictions. As a result, families were once again asked to keep their children at home while the country went into another lockdown. Yet again Little Hearts Preschool had to close their doors, with prayer that things will come back to normal after the holidays.
The long days of national lockdown are slowly ending and Israelis are trying to gradually return to their usual responsibilities. The government wants the country to “reopen” in stages. This means that not all children are coming back to preschool and the enrollment at Little Hearts is much lower. Yet the expenses remain the same.
Please join us in prayer and loving support for Little Hearts. As they try to navigate the current situation in Israel, we can ease some of their burdens. The closures have left the Little Hearts Preschool with great loses in operating costs. But with our support, we can ensure that they are ready to welcome all of their little students back to their classrooms!
Send a gift today to remind Little Hearts that they are not alone in this tough situation!
